Counselling

Counselling and family therapy is integral to helping women through a time. The most important issue for women who avail of the counselling services is confidentiality; every family who uses our services is assured of this (although there a number of exceptions, if the person is a danger to themselves or others or where the protection of children is a concern).

Children as well as parents benefit from this service as it provides a space where they can explore what is happening within the family and how the family dynamic may alter when parents separate. It provides an opportunity for children to understand and get clarity about their feelings as some children feel they are to blame when things go wrong within the family. It offers the parent/ parents an insight into the individual child’s needs and how they can respond to their needs.

Clients are provided free of charge four to six counselling/therapy sessions; an assessment is made and further sessions are provided depending on the needs of the client at that particular time. Some clients may only need a small number of sessions, while others may require more sessions and support with their children.
